Badamwari Garden is a historic and scenic garden located at the foothills of Hari Parbat Fort in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Known for its beautiful almond (badam) orchards, Badamwari Garden is especially famous as one of the earliest signs of spring in Kashmir. When almond trees bloom here, it marks the end of winter and the beginning of the vibrant spring season in the valley.

The garden holds great cultural and historical importance. It is believed that Badamwari Garden existed during the Mughal era and was later renovated to restore its original charm. Today, it serves as a peaceful public garden where locals and tourists gather to enjoy nature, fresh air, and scenic surroundings. The backdrop of Hari Parbat and views of old Srinagar add to the garden’s unique appeal.

During March and early April, Badamwari Garden becomes a major attraction as thousands of almond trees burst into delicate white and light pink blossoms. This short blooming period draws photographers, nature lovers, and visitors who wish to witness Kashmir’s first spring flowers before tulips and other blooms appear. The sight of flowering almond trees against snow-dusted mountains creates a magical atmosphere.

The garden features well-maintained walking paths, green lawns, and seating areas, making it ideal for morning walks, family outings, and quiet relaxation. Unlike larger Mughal gardens, Badamwari Garden is less crowded, offering a calm and intimate experience.

Badamwari Garden is also close to several attractions such as Hari Parbat Fort, Nigeen Lake, and the old city areas of Srinagar, making it easy to include in a sightseeing itinerary.

With its seasonal beauty, historical significance, and peaceful environment, Badamwari Garden is a charming destination that showcases the gentle and colorful side of Kashmir’s spring season.
