Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, commonly known as the Tulip Garden, is one of the most spectacular attractions in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Located at the foothills of the Zabarwan Range overlooking Dal Lake, it is the largest tulip garden in Asia. Spread over a vast area, the garden becomes a vibrant sea of colors every spring, attracting tourists from all over India and abroad.
The Tulip Garden was opened to the public in 2007 with the aim of promoting tourism in Kashmir. Every year, during March and April, millions of tulips bloom in perfect rows across the terraced landscape. The garden features dozens of tulip varieties in shades of red, yellow, pink, white, purple, and orange, creating a breathtaking visual treat. The snow-capped mountains in the background further enhance its beauty.
Apart from tulips, the garden also showcases other spring flowers such as daffodils, hyacinths, ranunculus, and iris, making it colorful even beyond the main tulip bloom. Well-maintained pathways, fountains, and green lawns allow visitors to explore the garden comfortably and enjoy scenic views from every corner.
The Tulip Festival, held annually during the blooming season, adds cultural charm to the garden. It features local Kashmiri music, folk dances, handicraft stalls, and traditional food, giving visitors a glimpse of Kashmir’s rich culture along with natural beauty.
The Tulip Garden is ideal for photography, leisurely walks, and family outings. Its pleasant spring weather, fresh mountain air, and vibrant floral display create a joyful and refreshing atmosphere.
With its colorful blooms, scenic setting, and festive spirit, the Tulip Garden stands as a symbol of Kashmir’s natural charm and is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Srinagar during spring.
