Nishat Bagh is one of the most beautiful and largest Mughal gardens in Kashmir, located on the eastern bank of Dal Lake in Srinagar. The name Nishat Bagh means “Garden of Joy,” and the garden truly lives up to its name with its breathtaking views, elegant design, and peaceful atmosphere. It was built in 1633 AD by Asif Khan, the brother of Empress Nur Jahan, during the Mughal era.

Designed in the classic charbagh style, Nishat Bagh is laid out on a steep hillside with twelve terraces, each symbolizing the twelve zodiac signs. These terraces are connected by beautifully crafted stone stairways, flowing water channels, and cascading fountains. The central water channel runs down the length of the garden, creating a stunning visual effect as water flows from one level to another.

One of the most striking features of Nishat Bagh is its panoramic view of Dal Lake, with the Zabarwan Hills rising in the background. The combination of water, greenery, mountains, and open sky makes this garden a favorite spot for photography and nature lovers.
