Kamla Nehru Park, located on the peaceful Malabar Hill in South Mumbai, is one of the city’s most loved family-friendly attractions. Built in 1952 and named after Kamla Nehru, the wife of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, this park is especially popular among children because of its iconic “Boot House,” a giant shoe-shaped structure inspired by the famous nursery rhyme “There was an old woman who lived in a shoe.” Over the decades, the Boot House has become a nostalgic symbol for generations of Mumbai’s children.

Spread across a green and refreshing hilltop, the park offers a relaxing atmosphere with walking paths, shaded seating areas, and open lawns where families can unwind. The fresh air and the greenery feel like a breath of calm in the middle of the bustling city. Parents often bring their kids here to play, run around, and enjoy the colourful surroundings, making it a perfect weekend outing spot.

One of the highlights of Kamla Nehru Park is the beautiful viewpoint that offers a charming, elevated view of Marine Drive, famously known as the “Queen’s Necklace.” The curved coastline, sparkling with lights during the evening, is a favourite spot for photography and quiet moments. Many visitors stop here to relax and enjoy the serene vibe of Malabar Hill.

The park is also a common stop for tourists who combine their visit with the nearby Hanging Garden, which is right across the street. Together, these two attractions provide a refreshing green escape from city life.

Whether you are visiting with children, looking for a peaceful place for a walk, or simply want to enjoy a great city view, Kamla Nehru Park offers a simple, charming, and wholesome experience that has made it a beloved part of Mumbai’s landscape for decades.
