Kirti Stambh, also known as the Tower of Fame, is one of the oldest and most admired monuments inside the Chittorgarh Fort. Built in the 12th century by a wealthy Jain merchant named Jijaji Rathod, this beautifully carved tower is dedicated to Lord Adinath, the first Jain Tirthankara. The tower stands as a symbol of devotion, peace, and the rich cultural heritage of Jainism in Mewar.
Compared to Vijay Stambh, Kirti Stambh is smaller in height but far richer in delicate artwork. The tower rises about 22 meters high and is adorned with extraordinary stone carvings that depict Jain saints, intricate motifs, and geometrical designs. Every inch of the structure reflects the fine craftsmanship of ancient artisans who paid attention to the smallest detail.
The entrance of the tower features carvings of the Digambara Jain saints, and multiple niches on different levels showcase beautifully sculpted figures of Lord Adinath. The graceful carvings make Kirti Stambh one of the most stunning examples of medieval Indian stone art.
Visitors can climb the narrow staircase inside the tower, which leads to its upper floors. Although the climb is tight and steep, the interior carvings and the peaceful atmosphere offer a unique experience. From the top, visitors get a wonderful view of nearby temples and the surrounding areas of the fort.
Kirti Stambh is not just a monument; it is an important spiritual site for the Jain community. Pilgrims visit throughout the year to pay respect and admire its ancient beauty. Its simplicity, elegance, and historical significance make it an unmissable attraction for travellers exploring Chittorgarh Fort.
Today, Kirti Stambh continues to stand proudly as a timeless reminder of Jain philosophy, artistic mastery, and the cultural depth of medieval Mewar.
