Fatehpur Sikri, located near Agra, is a magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site built by Emperor Akbar in the 16th century. Once the capital of the Mughal Empire, this red sandstone city showcases a perfect blend of Persian, Indian, and Islamic architectural styles. The complex houses grand structures like Buland Darwaza, Jama Masjid, Panch Mahal, and the Tomb of Salim Chishti. Although it was later abandoned due to water scarcity, Fatehpur Sikri remains one of India’s most impressive historical sites, reflecting Akbar’s vision of a united and artistic empire.
