Lotus Temple, located in South Delhi, is one of India’s most iconic and peaceful architectural landmarks. Officially known as the Bahá’í House of Worship, it is a spiritual site open to people of all religions, faiths, and backgrounds. Completed in 1986, the temple is shaped like a blooming white lotus flower, symbolizing purity, peace, and harmony — values deeply rooted in the Bahá’í Faith.

Designed by Iranian architect Fariborz Sahba, the structure is made of 27 free-standing marble petals arranged in clusters of three, forming nine sides. The temple’s nine doors represent the openness of the Bahá’í teachings, inviting everyone to pray, meditate, and experience spiritual calm. Inside, the prayer hall can seat around 2,500 people, yet it remains completely silent — allowing visitors to sit peacefully, connect within, or simply enjoy the tranquil ambiance.

One of the highlights of the Lotus Temple is its beautifully landscaped surroundings. The lush gardens, serene pathways, and reflective ponds enhance the peaceful environment, making it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Delhi. The temple does not perform any rituals, sermons, or religious ceremonies. Instead, it encourages silent meditation, making it a unique spiritual space unlike any other worship place in the country.

Recognized globally for its extraordinary design, the Lotus Temple has received numerous architectural awards and attracts millions of visitors every year. Whether you are interested in architecture, spirituality, or simply seeking quiet moments, the Lotus Temple offers an experience of serenity and unity. Its message of universal brotherhood and oneness makes it not just a religious site but a symbol of global harmony.
